Creating and Using Stamps
Creating your own stamps is simple with a carving tool. I use a Speedball carving tool, which has different size tips for creating different designs. I tried carving out of linoleum and the artist carving block, which was much faster. Applying the paint to your stamp with a paintbrush rather than dipping the stamp in paint gives the artist more control of the desired outcome or effect. Using a stencil is most effective when it is kept very close to the fabric, either with a spray adhesive or by taping or holding it down tightly.
