Fabric Painting

There are many different ways to paint on fabric and different types of paint that can be used to create different effects.  I love to use silk paints on different types of material, such as a jersey knit t-shirt.  Other types of paint can also be used on fabric, such as spray paint and acrylic paint.  It is very important to test the types of paint on the material you would like to paint before moving on to the final costume piece.  Different types of paints will change the hand of the fabric and if that is not taken into account, it is possible that an undesirable effect will be achieved.  If the paint is tested on the fabric, you will be able to see what will happen with your costume piece when it is painted.
